EPFO: My mistake is your problem !!

This is exactly what the Employers Provident Fund Organization is going to do. Over the years, overpayments to PF pensioners have risen steadily and it is largely because of non-updation of accounts or manual errors by the staff of EPFO. Presently about Rs 10 crore is stuck in over payments and irregular payments.

It was literally impossible for the PF authorities to trace out the PF pensioners and recover the excess amounts paid to them. Therefore it was decided to recover it from the officer and staff in charge of the payment at EPFO. When the staff started to protest they had to stop that too. With no other alternative in hand the PF Authorities have now turned towards the Employers and intent to recover it from the Employers and in case they are unwilling to pay, the EPFO is planning to even lodge police complaints against the Employers by filing FIR or any other action as per rules.
This is one of the most insane things i have heard of in the recent past. EPFO is out f its mind to believe that Employers are going to pay up for the mistakes made by EPFO. This, if taken too far is going to be shameful publicity for EPFO.
